Monday will include all the information for Mon/Tue/Wed/Thur and Friday’s email will include all the information for Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Tahquitz Rock – Did you know…
In the 1930s, the Rock Climbing Section (RCS) of the Sierra Club in California started a campaign to identify potential rock climbing locations in southern California. RCS member Jim Smith “discovered” Tahquitz in June 1935.
The Yosemite Decimal System (YDS) of classifying routes was developed at Tahquitz by members of the RCS of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club in the 1950s.
Check out a detailed exhibit of rock climbing history at the Historical Museum in town – open today from 10 – 3.

Did you know that Idyllwild did not have electricity until 1923? That’s right…the same year that Firestone made its first rubber tire and the “HOLLYWOODLAND” sign was erected in Los Angeles. This year is the 100th anniversary of Idyllwild getting electricity.
Stop by the museum if you’ve never been in. It’s got a LOT of interesting things!
